Details - Summary : WiTEC UK originally gained funding from the European Commission (DGV) in 1996 to develop the Database of Women Experts in order to raise the profile of eminent women scientists and technologists and to provide a resource for government and EC departments seeking representatives for expert committees and working groups. The database also received funding from the Promoting SET for Women unit in the Office of Science and Technology, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to re-design and update the database. The database now has new features such as on-line application for new experts and a forum for discussion with experts. The WiTEC network are currently looking for additional funding in order to be able to continue to maintain and update the database.
