WiTEC Netherlands is represented by VHTO. VHTO makes an effort - in many different ways - to increase the involvement of women and girls in technology and engineering. For that purpose VHTO aims at advanced technological education, the technological employment market and government policy.VHTO has up-to-date expertise about technological education and fields of employment and a great deal of (quantitative as well as qualitative) data about female technology students and engineers. VHTO employs this expertise to realise improvement in the following areas:
- Quality improvement and expanding the allure of advanced technological education
- Supporting junior female engineers and assisting them in their career development
- Support in the recruitment and career policy of the technological business community
- Social dialogue and new models of the Welfare State
- Improving the connection between advanced technological education and the knowledge and interests of girls in secondary education
The 'hogescholen' (Universities of professional [technical] education) in the Netherlands are automatically members of VHTO Netherlands. Female engineers in the Netherlands can become a member of the VHTO national network of female engineers (> 100 members; activities: meetings, training, mentoring, E-zine, who-is who site etc.)
