- Summary
: |
WiTEC UK originally
gained funding from the European Commission (DGV) in
1996 to develop the Database of Women Experts in order
to raise the profile of eminent women scientists and
technologists and to provide a resource for government
and EC departments seeking representatives for expert
committees and working groups. The database also received
funding from the Promoting SET for Women unit in the
Office of Science and Technology, Department of Trade
and Industry (DTI) to re-design and update the database.
The database now has new features such as on-line application
for new experts and a forum for discussion with experts.
The WiTEC network are currently looking for additional
funding in order to be able to continue to maintain
and update the database.
